Dr. Bhalani is the founder and CEO of Florida Pain Medicine. He completed a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency and served as a chief resident at University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida and completing a 2-year prestigious Interventional Pain Medicine Fellowship. During these 2 years, Dr. Bhalani’s focus was on fluoroscopically/ultrasound/CT guided interventional pain and spine procedures, headache medicine, cancer pain, research, and more. He participated in an internship and anesthesiology residency training at the University of Maryland Medical Systems in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his medical school and undergraduate training from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
Dr. Bhalani currently serves as clinical associate professor and faculty for the pain medicine fellowship/department of Neurology at the University of South Florida where he continues to teach fellow and resident surgeons. Teaching is one of Dr. Bhalani’s passions in life. He started his medical career as a hospital employed physician at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills and at Tampa Pain Relief Center. He has spent over the last 7 years serving his patients in the Zephyrhills, Wesley Chapel, and Tampa area.
Dr. Bhalani is board certified in Interventional Pain Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Medical Specialties. He has a wide range of experience in treating chronic and refractory pain problems. Always learning, Dr. Bhalani has additional training in vertebroplasty, radiofrequency nerve ablation, percutaneous discectomy, spinal cord or dorsal column stimulator placement, intrathecal pain pump implantation, ultrasound guided nerve blocks, and minimally invasive lumbar decompression to provide his patients with the most advanced treatment options available in pain management. Even today, he continues his learning by participating in multiple annual pain conferences, bringing home to Florida the latest in education, treatments options, therapies/modalities, and new interventional pain procedures to Florida Pain Medicine for his patients.
Dr. Bhalani is a member of several professional societies and national and regional organizations in Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He plans to continue his focus by contributing medical literature to the Pain Medicine and Rehabilitation Journal and also conducts clinical trials for new pain medications and procedures as they arise.
In his spare time, Dr. Bhalani enjoys spending with his family, playing and watching sports (he is a huge fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Tampa Bay Rays, the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Orlando Magic, and the Creighton Bluejays), skiing, teaching resident/fellow surgeons at the University of South Florida, trying his hand at golf and other outdoor activities.
